It is obviously quite important for you to have a really good pair of shoes that you can run in when you are going through the closing stage of a triathlon – But equally important is making sure that you have a solid pair of triathlon shoes that is also going to get you through the bicycle leg of the competition as well, otherwise you may end up doing more harm than good before ever realizing it.
Fundamentally, cycling shoes for a triathlon are like regular cycling shoes however they have been modified in some way. The corresponding rules are going to apply with a single difference, in that it is really truly and seriously fundamental for you to be able to get in and out of your shoes as quickly as humanly possible. This is not a factor for any traditional types of bicycle shoes and so many top cyclists accidentally opt for shoes that are hard for them to remove such as shoes that have hard plastic soles for example.
The most crucial thing that you should be looking for when it comes to choosing any type of cycling shoe, whether you are participating in typical road races or in a triathlon race, is a sole that is solid. This is going to make sure that there is not any dampening, as dampening is capable of leading to an overall loss of power. A sole that is made out of carbon is perfect, but this tends to be a deluxe type of option that not everyone can opt for unfortunately. If your budget is not going to permit that you purchase carbon shoes for your triathlon race, then you are going to want to choose a conventional style plastic sole shoe instead.
You are also going to want to have a shoe that is slightly tight, but not overly tight in the heel and in the toes, as well as a shoe that offers an overall snug feel for your entire foot in general. There shouldn’t ever be any wiggle room to speak of in your shoe because this is going to leave you with a loss of power and a movement of the foot that is less efficient, not to mention the eventuality of a blister, and who wants one of those?
You are probably already going to have spent a lot of money on your triathlon gear including your bike and your helmet and your clothing. If you want your shoes to look just as nice, believe me, we understand. Still, make sure that you are choosing the right shoe more than just the most attractive one for the best possible results on race day or even simply while you are training in preparation for race day.

Running is a sport which is easy to get in to. You do not need a lot of specialized equipment to get started. Running for beginners only requires a good pair of shoes and some good advice. This way you can get started off the right way. The most important things to remember is to start slow, keep things interesting and to always stretch before you run. By following this advice, you will not only be running next week, you will be running years from now as well.
The Right Pair of Shoes
Just because you are just getting started doesn’t mean to go out and buy just any running shoe. Even running for beginners can be taxing on one’s feet. The wrong pair of shoes will make things just that much harder. This still does not mean you have to break the bank. It is a good idea to have your feet looked at. You can be told which parts of your feet need more support than others. This way you can buy a shoe which will offer the correct amount of support. You will also be able to buy the shoe which will be the right size and width.
Starting Out Slow
Too many people want to get started running a mile a day. This is a mistake because it will cause you to get discouraged. Running for beginners should start off by walking with a little running thrown in. Walk for about a half hour and run for maybe a third of the time. Over the next month, you can increase the amount of time you are running and decrease the amount of time you are walking. By the end of a month you may be able to be running the entire thirty minutes. If it takes longer, that is okay just keep at it.
Keeping Things Interesting
The best way running for beginners can be kept interesting is to find new challenges for yourself. This can include signing up for a short race. You don’t have to sign up for the first ironman you see, but consider a short race for such a thing as a charitable event. This way there will not be a lot of pressure for you to perform. It will be more about completing the training and doing your best in the race. This way you will be running every day with a purpose.
Always Stretch
The best advice in running for beginners is that you should always stretch. No matter how good you get at running or how long you run for, your muscles will never reach a point where they are impervious to strains, tears or pulls. The best way to stretch is to warm up your muscles with a little walking or with a small jog. Once the muscles are warm, do some toe reaches and other stretches which will concentrate on stretching the hamstring, quads and calf muscles. This way you can avoid injury.

So, you have signed up for your first 10k race. You are nervous about how you will perform in the race. This is understandable. This is why you are looking for the best 10k training program to get started the right way. The good news is there have been a lot of people who have run before you. They have been able to train well for the big day and you can too. Following the right advice will have you in shape to not only finish the race, but get a good time in the gamble.
Choose the Right Shoes
The first commitment in your 10k training program you should make is to train in the same shoes you will run the race in. Some people want to trade up for a better pair which are not worn out when they run in the race. The problem is while the shoes will not be worn out, they will not be broken in either. You will end up causing your feet some pain by wearing shoes you are not familiar with. If you really want a newer pair of shoes for the big day, wear them for at least the week or so before you run the race.
Increase Your Daily Run
The amount of running which goes into a 10k training program will far exceed what you normally do in a morning run. This does not mean go out and start running ten times the amount you usually run the first day of your training. You will end up hurting yourself. You should increase your running in increments. This way you will be able to dial in the distance you should be training at without causing serious injury to yourself. The best advice is to only increase your distance by 10% every month.
Eat Right
Keep in mind your 10k training program will cause you to burn way more calories than what you are used to. You will have to eat foods which will replace these calories. This does not mean eat a lot of high fat foods. Instead you should be eating foods which are high in complex carbohydrates and low in sugars. You should also make sure to eat foods which are high in potassium because they will help you to avoid cramps as you are running.
Drink Plenty of Water
The sagest advice in your 10k running program is to drink plenty of water. This is good advice no matter how long you have been running for. Your body needs water to stay lubricated. Water will provide cushion in your joints to prevent pains. It will also help to keep your spinal column from becoming impacted. Water also helps to keep your body cool as you run more every day. You may even want to bring a water bottle with you as you are running. There are jerseys available which have special pouches just to keep a water bottle in while you are running.

When competing in a race which involves running, there are a few different pointers which need to be kept in mind. Some people feel their normal run in the morning will suffice in training to run. This is wrong because you will not be training yourself higher levels of endurance or performance. You need to set a schedule, log your accomplishments and find a good pace. You will also need to invest money into a good pair of shoes and running clothes. If you stick to these pointers you will be able to do more than just finish the race.
Buying the Right Equipment
The very first thing you need to do when training to run is making sure you have the right equipment. This includes having a good pair of sneakers. Many runners have taken to having their feet analyzed to get all of the support they need while running. Some have even taken to getting custom made sneakers. Make sure the sneakers you buy and train with are the same ones you will be racing in. This goes for the clothes you will be wearing for the race as well. You need to be familiar with how everything will feel as you run to get the maximum performance in the race.
Setting an Effective Running Schedule
Next, you need to create a running schedule which will help you maximize your performance. This includes mapping out routes and setting goals while training to run. You should take into account your past performance when setting your schedule. Try not to set your schedule too far in advance so you can change things up as your performance level increases. Make sure that you are not increasing distances or lengths of time running at too fast of intervals. This can put a dangerous strain on your body. Only go up a maximum of 10% per week.
Keeping a Running Log
After every run you should sit down and write out everything which happened on your run. This includes times, speeds and routes taken. You may even want to log weather conditions. This will help you to track everything which happens while training to run. You will be able to map out changes in performance and problems encountered. This will help you in creating your schedule and finding what works for you in training and in racing.
Finding Your Race Pace
One of the most important things when training to run is finding a comfortable pace. This is important so that you can maximize your performance throughout your run. If you waste all of your energy at the beginning of the race, you will have nothing left at the end. A good pace will make it possible for you to sprint at the end of the race. This is the sign of a seasoned runner who has good discipline. Those who keep a good pace for themselves while running will actually outperform those who tried to run hard at the beginning of the race.
