… Continued from Attain Victory with the Right Triathlon Gear pt 1:
The seat tubes have steeper angles and they allow for more of the leg muscles to be contributing to the pedaling force. Since more body muscles are being engaged, there is less strain being placed on each individual muscle, which gives you a much greater balance of the energy reserves when you transition from biking into running.
Sadly, there are also triathlon athletes that are not using these specific bikes, and they are putting themselves at an enormous disadvantage as a result. This is because most if not all of their pedaling power is coming from only a few of the muscles in their legs, and this is resulting in a much quicker loss of their vital energies. When you are an athlete, it is easy for you to see that science is capable of being a friend to you. In order for you to pick out the best of the best when it comes to triathlon gear, you need to be able to set your mind on a budget that is going to allow you to be competitive in not one but all three of the legs of this race. You should not, then, only be spending your money on a top of the line triathlon designed bike only to fail in the other aspects of the competition for example.
Sure, it may do you well to have a top of the line bike for the triathlon portion of the race, but a cheaper and better rounded bicycle may achieve the same. Who cares if your bike isn’t as sexy as a Ferrari, what you really need for it to do is get you through the race, getting the job done and keeping you in good shape along the way.
By budgeting a little less for your triathlon bicycle, you can spend more money on your shoes, your wet suit and any other items that you need for the entirety of this three leg race. You are going to need good goggles and a good wet suit if you want to do well in the swimming portion of the race and you are going to need good running shoes and comfortable running clothes if you want to run well. As a general rule, you should be investing in all of these things, rather than scrimping in one part of your gear and spending too much in another. It is definitely going to be a good idea for you to save up to make sure that you buy the right gear, because having the right gear can really make or break your ability to succeed in any triathlon competition. If you want to improve your training and improve your actual competition as a result, then choose the right gear and invest in the right things right off the bat.

Throughout our existence, one of the deciding factors in who survives and who doesn’t has been technology. It is the innovation of technology that has allowed us to push ourselves to new horizons along the way. In all aspects of our life, having the right gear and equipment is absolutely essential in guaranteeing our success in many ways. If we want to meet goals, meet deadlines, get up on time, go to bed on time, achieve the requirements of our jobs and stay healthy and happy in lives, we need to make use of the newest and best gadgets and technology. In triathlon training, this is also true, because we can attain victory when we utilize the right triathlon gear. This is so true that it can be said that having the right gear will literally be what makes or breaks your ability to do well in a triathlon competition because it will improve your ability to train and your ability to succeed during the actual competition as well.
In 1912, the world’s fastest man was a gentleman named Don Lippincott, who ran the 100 meter dash in a total of 10.6 seconds. Now that nearly one hundred years have passed, the same distance can be run in 9.69 seconds by Usain Bolt, and he hardly broke a sweat as he tore through the previous world record. So what is the difference between these two men? They are obviously both hardworking, hard training men, so what made them unique from one another? In all honesty, the only thing that separates these two men from one another is the progresses in technology.
The same technologies capable of separating and shaping entire nations and their histories is also more than capable of determining which athletes have a competitive edge in championships and tournaments and competitions such as the Ironman or even the Tour De France. Modern runners are benefiting from fine-tuned running shoes that provide the optimum level of stiffness for optimizing their unique mechanical energy produced by the ankle, creating a faster print and more spring in the step for example.
Cyclists on the other hand are benefiting from finely tuned road bikes that are durable and yet extremely light as a result of construction from cutting edge metal alloys that allow for them to ride faster and faster still, breaking more and more records for speed as they go along. The merging between science and sports has birthed an insane amount of new products that create incredible athletic performance. For those who are not incorporating brand new technologies into their competition, this could potentially mean the distinction between making history and becoming history.
Triathlon athletes that really want to be competitive need to go out and buy equipment that is triathlon specific such as a bike specifically for triathlons, which offer altered geometric configurations in comparison to typical or traditional road bikes.

When it comes to packing in preparation for your triathlon race, it is best for you to break all of your necessities down into four different categories. This way, you can focus on each of the categories one at a time. One example of breaking your categories down is to break everything down into personal items, swimming items, biking items and running items. This is not the only way to do it, but it is certainly a good way to break things down if you are just starting out and trying to get yourself organized.
The items in your personal category of triathlon race gear should include your photo ID and a USAT membership card if you possess one, a Tri kit, nutrition goods such as gels, bars, drinks and electrolytic solutions, sunscreen, body lubricant or Body Glide, chap stick and two towels. You should also have dry clothing packed that you can change into when the race is over, sunglasses for the race and a casual pair as well, braces or wraps if you need them, race information, maps and registration information and anything else that you may need for the race but not necessarily during the race.
When it comes to the next three categories, what you should generally do is to work the category over from head to toe in your mind before moving onto the specific equipment that needs to be used in that particular category of the race. For example:
The items in your swim category of triathlon race gear should include the race issued swimming gap, anti-fog goggles, swim skins or wetsuit, timing chin strap and anything else that you may need for the swimming portion of the race.
The items in your bicycling category of triathlon race gear should include a helmet with your helmet number on it, your bike with a bike number on it, your bike gloves if you choose to wear them, socks if you choose to wear them, proper bicycling shoes, a well stocked bike kit with tubes, tools and CO2, water bottles and anything else that you may need for the bicycling portion of the race.
The items in your running category of triathlon race gear should include a running hat or a running visor, a racing number with a racing belt, proper running shoes and anything else that you may need for the running portion of the race.
Keep in mind that if you have a transition bag for your triathlon race gear, you will eventually become much more accustomed to the idea of packing before the race and what items you need and where they need to go for the best results. Over time you will learn to identify if any items are missing and if any important gear needs to be added. In the meantime, having a list like this is going to make the entire process far less stressful.

If you are looking for a pair of positive pressure swimming goggles, consider the Barracuda B300 goggles
, which are part of the Barracuda line. This concept makes use of a closed cell foam in order to seal against your skin without requiring suction, and what this means is that as a result you have a much, much more comfortable goggle. When you are training for a triathlon, having goggles that are comfortable without putting pressure on your face is vitally important.
Although many triathletes prefer swim mask types of goggles because they offer an increase in peripheral vision, the Barracuda brand claims that the Barracuda B300 Goggles are very popular among triathlon swimmers, and this is a claim that has been backed up by reviews. As far as swimming goggles go, the Barracuda B300 Goggles are really comfortable and they offer an outstanding quality with optics that are unsurpassed. They also come with the perfect screwdriver for adjusting the tiny screws that adjust the nose bridge width, and this is a classy touch because tiny details like this really matter.
The eyepieces of the Barracuda B300 Goggles are large and foam, and you need to get them wet so that they will seal right up against your skin. If they are not made wet first, then the Barracuda B300 Goggles will leak, and this is not a good thing when you are racing in a triathlon. It’s also important to know that while those pieces of foam are comfortable and capable of providing a good seal, they unfortunately put some limitations on your ability to see peripherally, which can cost you in a serious race.
The head straps that come with the Barracuda B300 Goggles are long and both ends come out of the same side rather than being able to adjust independently. Unfortunately, this means that you can end up with too much of the strap sticking out, and you may have to tuck it in, which can be a bother. The easy solution is to cut the excess off if you are not going to end up needing it at some point. Having a flapping piece of head strap while you’re swimming is a pain, so deal with it before you train.
The Barracuda B300 Goggles definitely offer decent performance and high quality. They are decently attractive for what they are, and they are a good value for what they offer. If you depend on your peripheral vision, they will be limiting. If you prefer waterproof vision while swimming and don’t mind a bit of a sacrifice, then the Barracuda B300 Goggles are definitely an option worth considering, especially when you consider that they are a value. You may want to use them for training but not for the actual race, but ultimately it is up to you to decide. They retail for about $28, which is a solid price for decent goggles.

Too many people think about the design which was made popular in the 1800’s for womens bicycles. These had a low sweeping top tube to accommodate a dress. These days there is no longer a need for the low top tube. There is however, still a need for a different design in the bike. This is because of the way a woman’s body is different from a man’s. There are a few different things to keep in mind when buying a bike as a woman. This will prevent you from buying a bike which will be okay. By keeping a few different things in mind, you will be able to buy a bike which will be great.
Anatomy of a Woman
Before buying that unisex bike, keep in mind how a woman’s body id different from a man’s. Women have a shorter torso, longer arms and longer legs than a man. This is something which should be kept in mind when buying womens bicycles. The right bike will be designed to meet the specific needs of a woman. This should be accomplished without any modifications being done to the bike after it has been purchased.
The Angle of the Seat Tube
Because women have longer legs than men, womens bicycles should accommodate for this fact. This means having a seat tube which is almost completely perpendicular to the ground. This allows for a longer distance between the seat and the pedals. Having the right angle on the tube allows a woman to be able to easily reach the pedals and not have her knees in her chest. The seat can also be pitched to create a perfect angle to reach the handle bars.
The Right Length Top Tube
The right womens bicycles will have a top tube which will bring the handlebars closer to the seat. This is because the woman’s torso is shorter. The closer bars will also allow a greater angle on the front fork. This will increase the wheel base for a steadier ride. This is important as all of the changes which are made should be in tandem to allow for a better ride. Some manufacturers will make one change without regarding the angles and lengths for the rest of the bike. This is a mistake seeing as it will cause for a bad ride and can even lead to accidents.
Careful for Toe Overlap
One danger which is common in womens bicycles is the danger of hitting the front wheel with your toe. This can happen when the wheel is too close to where you are pedaling. This is a danger when you are traveling at slow speeds, but can still cause serious injuries. If the manufacturer has not compensated for the possible overlap, you may want to consider buying a shorter crank. This will cause you to have to pedal faster because your feet are closer to the crankshaft, but you will at least be free from danger. Better yet, simply buy a bike which has accommodated for your safety.

There is more to swim gear than just a pair of swim trunks. The gear you purchase will help you to train as well as during competitions. You do not have to spend a lot on the stuff you will use. The important thing is more just to have the equipment which will help you to get the most out of your swimming. You can invest in items which will help to strengthen the muscles you will use during competition, equipment to reduce drag and items which will make it possible for you to swim more comfortably.
Training Gear
There are many different kinds of swim gear you can use to train with. Of the most recognizable is the kick board. This helps to improve the strength of your legs. You can either use the board with or without flippers. The way the board helps you is by allowing your torso to stay out of water and creating drag. Your legs alone will be responsible for forward momentum.
For those looking to build upper body strength, the swim gear you can purchase is a little different. You can purchase push boards which strap on to your hands. These are little more than pieces of plastic in a square. How they help you is by giving you a good idea about whether you are completing a proper stroke or not. All power from your stroke will be translated instantly into movement. You can also purchase floaters which are clenched between your thighs. This creates more drag and forces your legs to stay together. This helps to build upper body strength while training you to keep your legs together as you swim.
Drag Reducing Equipment
The kind of swim gear you wear should help you to swim faster by reducing drag. This starts with the right suit. This includes making sure the suit is as close to your body as possible. One thing to look out for here are seams which do not bulge out from the suit as it meets your body. Another important piece of equipment to reduce drag is the swim cap. This is little more than a piece of latex which will be stretched over your hair and head. The cap should contain all of your hair as well as your ears. This will reduce as much drag as possible from your head without having to shave off all of your hair.
Comfort for the Swimmer
Not all swim gear has to be uncomfortable when you wear it. In fact, some pieces of equipment will actually improve your comfort as you are swimming. One of the most important pieces of equipment which will make your swimming more comfortable is the right swim goggles. While the square frame goggles are very popular, it is possible to buy goggles which are more like bubbles. These will reduce drag while allowing you to see in every direction. This way whether you are in competition or in training, you will not have to compromise anything.

People every year discover a joy never realized before in riding a bicycle. What most people face is a huge dilemma when they go to buy a beginner road bike. Even talking to friends about what they recommend is enough to blow your mind. You end up with a lot of information which does not make any sense to you. What you find out later is there are many different aspects of a bike which make it better suited to one person than another. You have to find what your own personal preferences are.
Starting Off With a Used Bike
Getting you on the road with a beginner bike is the most important thing. Good advice here is to buy one from a bike club, bike shop or the Salvation Army. Before you buy the bike, make sure you get measured to find out what size bike is best for you. You can then buy an inexpensive bike which is well suited to your needs. Make sure to have the bike checked for a tune up by your local bike shop before you hit the road. You should be able to get on the road for less than $100.
Take Some Bicycling Classes
If you live in or near a major city, there is most likely a few different cycling clubs you can join. Joining the club will help you to get lessons on how to more effectively ride your new beginner road bike. As you learn, you will learn all the different features which your bike has and how they help you to ride better. You will also learn which elements you would like to improve about your own ride. Once you have learned the range which your bike is capable of, you will be ready to make a better decision on the bike you will buy.
Pricing a New Bike
Armed with knowledge about what you really want in a good beginner road bike, you are ready to make your first real purchase. You can approach the different bikes available to you with more confidence. While price should not usually be a deciding factor in which bike you will buy, it should be for your first new bike. This is because while you have more information than an absolute newbie, you are still pretty fresh on the scene. Buy a good bike in the thousand dollar range and after a couple years, you will know exactly what $5000 bike you want to buy.
Stepping up to a Triathlon Bike
Many people buying a beginner road bike want it for triathlons. The beginner bike is still a good idea as you get used to riding the bike. You can even complete your first triathlon with a beginner bike. As your skills progress, you will find more benefit in buying a triathlon bike. You will find you are able to run better after the bike portion. You will also find you are able to have less impact on your back muscles. Just make sure you take steps instead of making a blind leap.

This is a big decision because good road bikes can cost thousands of dollars. Most people will have to ride the bike they purchase for years to come. It is possible to buy a road bike you will love if you keep a few different factors in mind.
Buy a Bike Your Size
A grown adult would never buy a children’s bike to ride. It is just as ridiculous to buy a full sized bike which is the wrong size for you. Buying the best road bike starts with having an expert measure you. Only by knowing your measurements can you find the bike which best suits your needs. This is because of the reach you have from the seat to the handle bars as well as from the seat to the pedals. Being measured only takes a few minutes and will help to save you from riding a bike which is all wrong for you.
Weighing Your Options
All bikes have a different weight. The weight of the best road bike will make a difference depending on how it is being used. Some people believe the lightest bike is always the best. This is not true if you are doing a lot of downhill riding. It is also not true if the weight of the bike is substituted for strength and durability. Pay attention to the weight of the bike, but always pay attention to what factors helped the bike to achieve the weight it has.
Ignore Everything but the Frame
When looking for the best road bike, it is important to remember everything but the frame can be replaced. Do not decide on a bike based on the gears which are used or the brakes. Do not even pay attention to the seat or the handle bars. The only thing which matters is the frame. All other components can be replaced if you do not like them. Many people will be strictly the frame and add on the components they like. While this is not always a possibility, check into it if you are particular about the components you use.
The Importance of Price
When searching for the best road bike, most people are not worried about the price. This is good seeing as you should be expecting to make a major investment. This attitude will prevent you from making a decision based more on economy than what will be the best decision for the way you ride. The only time price should enter the equation is if you find a few models which are similar in every way other than price. Then, by all means choose the one which will allow you to buy some new shoes while you are at it.

Choosing the right bike supplies is important no matter what your skill level. You do not have to be a competitive rider to enjoy the benefits of the best parts. While you might not be performing on the same level as some other riders, there is a value in good parts. For one thing, good quality parts last longer and have fewer incidences of malfunctions. This is important whether you are preparing for a large triathlon, bike tour or a simple morning exercise. There are a few different factors to keep in mind when choosing the best supplies for your bike.
Find a Good Shop
The best way to make sure you are buying the best bike supplies is to make sure you are buying from a quality source. This is because the better quality shops will invest in having a good selection of only the best products. Be wary of a shop which only carries one or two products as they are clearly biased as to which products they deem are best. While this can be because they are familiar with the quality of the products, it can often be because they are getting some kind of incentive to sell the brands they are. Ask around to other cyclists to find a good shop in your town.
Talk to People
It is not always easy to get a feel for how good a product is by reading the literature which is put out by the company. Even publications which seem respectable will produce pieces which will encourage you to buy a product only to find out later the publication is sponsored by the company. Talk to individual cyclists as well as the people who work at your favorite cycling shop to get the real skinny on the best supplies. You are assured you will go past the sales pitch and go straight to the reliable information.
Read Ratings
While it is not possible to always trust the information you find about bike supplies, there are many different reviews which give honest ratings. These can be found through consumer oriented publications. These can be found online as well as in magazines. In order to find unbiased ratings, make sure you do some research on the people doing the rating. If they are in any way connected with the supplies, you cannot trust what they are saying. Once you have found a good rating company, you should go back to them for all your needs.
Test Products Out
Some bike supplies like energy bars and drinks can simply be tested out by you. Buy just what you can use in a week and use the supplies as you normally would. Test out a few different brands one a week until you find the one which works best for you. This is because while many companies make claims, they do not all work the same on different people. This way you will be able to find the product which works best for you and you can stick with it.
